our very first wedding anniversary

I truly cannot believe that we have already been married a year! It is strange to no longer belong in the newly wed category. It is amazing how much can happen in a year. It has been a more amazing experience than I could have ever dreamed of.  A year of individual growth as well growing closer as a couple, Scott turned thirty and we found out we were expecting our first child (best surprise ever).  We also have finally found the most amazing church, Redstone, to become a part of. We are so thrilled about where and how God will lead us to serve in that church and the relationships we will get to build.

So due to the fact I am 8 months pregnant, our anniversary was very low key, but perfect. We just made a little weekend of it and made it as special as we could even though we didn't leave town. We went to Little Savannah in historic Forest Park on Friday night for our "big night out". The fried green tomatoes were my favorite. I gave Scott a peak preview of the book I have put together of our first year of marriage, since "paper" is the theme of 1st anniversaries.

The next morning we woke up and celebrated by going to have breakfast at Demetris in Homewood. Can you tell this anniversary was centered around my pregnancy cravings?!

That night we joined some of our friends and walked over to Otey's fest. Otey's is our favorite little restaurant and bar that is walking distance from our house. Its like our "cheers". They were having several bands playing outside under tents on Saturday. It was a fun time.

Sunday, our official anniversary, we woke up and went to Redstone Church. After that, we actually went to Babies R Us. Not a stop we thought we would be making on our anniversary but they were having a 2-day diaper sale.

At 6 o'clock (the time of our wedding), we had a slice of our wedding cake, Scott had a glass of prosecco and we watched our wedding video. Who would have thought sweet Emma Scott would be getting to have some of our wedding cake?! Even coco snuck a bite when we weren't looking. We also reread the letters we had given each other on our wedding day. It was a perfect ending to our first wedding anniversary. I am looking forward to many many more!

Below are just a few of my favorites from our wedding to reminisce (ok, maybe more than a few).

happily ever after...

  1. I love the picture of Scott and all the diapers! I made a book for Steve for our 1st anniversary too. It was the only year I stuck with the traditional anniversary theme. Oh well. We love watching our wedding videotoo! So happy you have found a church you love and can't wait to see you in a few days!
